What’s in a Label…..

I’ve thought about labels for a very long time. Hell, I have a diploma in Packaging technology, a degree in food supply marketing & business and have studied this entire topic in quite some detail.

 However, I have tried again and again to create, make, workout a suitable label for my ferments such as Herbucha, apple cider vinegar, Body Shots, Herbal teas and so forth.

I do have paper ones (removable for recycling the glass bottles and jars) – that can be changed in an instant. But cannot seem to fully commit to something like a LABEL that is fixed for all time to my products.

What I have come to realise is that my product by its very function is naturally fermented – thus it is never the same way twice. And it is changing throughout the seasons – various wild foraged herbs, berries as well as the fluctuating probiotic content.

How on earth can I label something that isn’t uniform? It’s not exactly what it says on the tin, because it is alive, dynamic and constantly shifting just like life.

Just like me.

 

So, here’s the deal – you will see my acvinegars, my herbuchas and perhaps some other stuff out there from me – the label might be yellow, blue, purple or green – there might be flowers, circles, spots and specks. It will have my name on it and all the other required words and details.

But, every time you taste it, it will be different, because we are different, the world is changing so fast and taking us with her.

Every single thing I do reflects that shift in nature.

It’s alive inside!
